Phillip Mellas is a seasoned safety leader with over 15 years’ experience spanning across a range of industries including healthcare, insurance, and community support services for disadvantage. After an extensive career as a physiotherapist, he transitioned to safety and risk bringing a deeply practical understanding of frontline work to his role as Work Health and Safety Manager at Aeralife — a position where he leads enterprise-wide risk and safety initiatives across their homes.
Phillip holds an MBA from Melbourne Business School where he was awarded three Dean’s Awards for academic excellence related to people and leadership. His work blends operational insight, strategic and critical thinking, and pragmatism, making him a trusted bridge between the board and executive, and the front line teams.
Driven by a belief that a risk management culture is everyone’s business, Phillip is known for his clear communication, inclusive leadership style, and ability to translate risk frameworks into action that make a difference on the ground.
